2018 SUMMER HOCKEY LEAGUE
TINY STICKS I JUNIORS I SENIORS
After successful seasons with the 2016 & 2017 Summer Hockey League, Roskill-Eden are going to repeat the Summer Hockey program for 2018. We have three programs in place - Tiny Sticks, Juniors and Seniors (Social and Competitive), with all dates, costs and details outlined below.
Players are allowed to enter as a team and/or as an individual, however please note that the final placings in teams will not be released until closer to the competitions start dates. We will try and get as much information to you prior to the start dates, so please keep an eye out on this website or the facebook page for all updated info.
All entries into the summer hockey league will only be confirmed once payment is received -

Tiny Sticks
COMPETITION DATES:
18TH OCTOBER 2018 - 6TH DECEMBER 2018
THURSDAY EVENINGS ONLY
$50.00 PER CHILD
2018 Tiny sticks competition is aimed at players aged 5 - 8 years of age (Year 1 - 4). The competition takes place on 1/4 field every Thursday evening from 6:00pm with games being 30 minutes total, allowing NO time for half time changeover. The competition is 6 a side and a minimum of 5 players need to take the field to start each game.
Player numbers are minimum of 7 and a maximum if 10 registered players in each team. If you are wanting your child to be in the same team as their "friends/family", please make sure you register your entry as a team and fill in the team name clearly on the form.
All players MUST wear shin pads & a mouth guard at all times when playing or they may not be allowed to take the field.
Please note that no entries into the league will be accepted without payment being received in FULL.
Juniors
COMPETITION DATES:
18TH OCTOBER 2018 - 6TH DECEMBER 2018
THURSDAY EVENINGS ONLY
$50.00 PER CHILD
2018 Juniors competition is aimed at players aged 9 - 13 years of age. The competition takes place on 1/2 field every Thursday evening from 6:00pm with games being 30 minutes total, allowing NO time for half time changeover. The latest game will start at 6:35pm should the competition fill, with this competition being an 8 a-side competition with a minimum of 5 players to take the field to start each game.
Player numbers are minimum of 8 and a maximum if 12 registered players in each team. We also encourage that there is a minimum of 2 girls per team although we do realise this is not always possible. If you are wanting your child to be in the same team as their "friends/family", please make sure you register your entry as a team and fill in the team name clearly on the form.
All players MUST wear shin pads & a mouth guard at all times when playing or they may not be allowed to take the field.
Please note that no entries into the league will be accepted without payment being received in FULL.
Seniors
COMPETITION DATES:
11TH OCTOBER 2018 - 14TH DECEMBER 2018
THURSDAY EVENINGS ONLY
$540.00 PER TEAM ENTRY
2018 Senior competition will be run on a Thursday evening only. The competition takes place on 1/2 field every Thursday evening from 7:15pm with games being 40 minutes total, allowing NO time for half time changeover. The latest game will start at 8:45pm should the competition fill, with this competition being an 6 a-side competition with a minimum of 4 players to take the field to start each game.
Player numbers are minimum of 8 and a maximum if 12 registered players in each team. There is also a minimum of 2 females per team on the field at all times, unless prior approval has been granted. All players MUST wear shin pads & a mouth guard at all times when playing or they may not be allowed to take the field. We also do allow for kicking fullbacks, however please refer to the rules below for full details on this.
2018 Rules are similar to the rules from the 2017 summer hockey competition, so please take some time to read through these before entering your team into the 2018 competition. A few key rules are as follows:
* NO HITTING - Players can push, slap or sweep at the ball only.
* Lifting/Jinking the ball - To the umpires discretion on danger and/or as long as it is below the knee
* PC - All shots are to hit the backboard - even deflections!
* Goal points -
(i) Field goal from within the shooting zone and penalty goals 3 goals
(ii) Field goal inside the shooting zone by a representative player 2 goals
(iii) Field goal outside the shooting zone (over halfway) 1 goal
